The other day I wrote about how quite often “It’s Not Good Enough To Be Better” with regard to a product. My example there was Facebook’s Slingshot product being better in almost every way when compared to Snapchat’s Stories product. And yet, Snapchat continues to dominate. Simply being “better” isn’t enough to win that battle – even if you’re Facebook.
Another great example of this surfaced today in the re-telling of the history of Google Maps.
I’ve used Google Maps since the day it launched. I remember the day well, getting very little done that morning as a colleague and I explored the interface with growing appreciation for the details. And excitement for what the web could be.
